BURT LAKE TRAIL MEETING
August 12, 2009

Committee present:  Gary Street, Kim Kihnke, Ann Baughman, Bert Ebbers, Connie Vorenkamp, Mac Richardson, Dean Pollard.
Absent: Linda Caverly, Frank Kestler.
Also attending: Harold Koviak, Gene Hodulik, Dennis Dombroski, Tom Stanley, Joyce Hutto.

Minutes
Minutes of July 15, 2009 were accepted.

TOMTC Trail Ride
Tom Stanley reviewed the Trail Ride of August 22.  The escorted ride will begin at 9 a.m. in Topinabee with a talk by Tom about the project. It will follow the proposed route of the trail, showing point of interest along the way and will end in Brutus at the Brutus Camp Deli giving 10% discounts on the meal.  Those who are preregistered can be shuttled back to Topinabee.  Gary and Mary Street, and Connie and Steve Vorenkamp have volunteered to shuttle the bikers. Ann Baughman requests someone to take pictures. 

Pamphlet
The pamphlet will need to be revised after the August 22 trail ride.  Connie Vorenkamp and Kim Kihnke will update the pamphlet by mid September.  Kim Kihnke reported November 2 as the deadline for the logo contest.   The rules of the Burt Trail Logo Contest are posted on the Burt Township website. 

Trail Treasurer
Donna McDougall, Burt Township Clerk, will be the Burt Lake Trail treasurer.

Easements
Gary Street, Jim Conboy and Harold Koviak met with Tim McArthur, (Burt Township attorney) to discuss the easement document.  Tim will write a draft for the document to be used.

Preliminary Engineering
A request for proposal was sent to C2AE, Northwest Design Group, and UP Engineers and Architects.  All three have responded with a preliminary proposal and they were evaluated by Gary Street, Bert Ebbers and Harold Koviak.  In comparison, C2AE and NWD were very close in the cost of the project.  C2AE scored slightly higher than NWD of the criteria studied by Gary and Bert.  Their recommendation is to go with C2AE.  Dennis Dumbrowski, Mullet Township Supervisor, also studied each group and is favoring C2AE. Both Mullet and Burt Township will be on the contract.
MOTION: Moved by Ann Baughman and seconded by Mac Richardson to award the preliminary engineering bid to C2AE. 
 Motion Unanimously Approved

Gary has copies of the engineering proposals if members would like to see them.

Discussion:  Connie Vorenkamp asked if Riggsville between East Burt Lake road and West Burt Lake road could be included in the study.
